platinum Jubilee Beacon

One of more than 2,800 beacons to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be lit at the Saffrons sports ground on Thursday 2nd June.

The beacons are an important part of the celebrations and will be lit across the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and overseas.

In Eastbourne, events are taking place across the town and include the Little Chelsea Jubilee Street Party. Grove Road and South Street will be closed to traffic and the area filled with entertainment and live music.

A ‘Best of British’ fancy dress competition will take place, there will be a traditional English sports day event, street circus, Jubilee bear hunt and more. Food and drink will be available from the area’s bars and cafes.

The Little Chelsea Street Party starts at 12 noon and will continue into the evening. You can find out more on the Eastbourne Bid website here.
